I voted this morning, did you?

Category: Dribble

If not, you and I have nothing to say to each other.

I’ve again let myself slip into an extended period of not writing anything, at least here.  Then again, I likely haven’t had much of anything to say.

I’ve held off all year about writing about my political views, for when you work as a fed, you tend to spend half of your day arguing politics with other feds or soldiers in your work center.  I suppose now is an opportune time to talk about where I stand, while we all stand by on the eve of such a historical general election.

I’m a registered Republican.  I believe whole heartedly in a free market,  a small government, less regulation, and a word for word interpretation of the constitution.  I’m not a fan of John McCain, his claim of being a “maverick” is laughable at best.  He still gets my vote, however, because I refuse to vote for anyone that wants to “redistribute my wealth.”  I work very hard for my standard of living.  I have zero sympathy for those who do not pay taxes, to those who choose not to get a job.   Who choose to have child after child to extend the welfare.  Get an education.  Get a job.  The American dream is not about handouts.

I refuse to vote for anyone with questionable ties, and ultimately, questionable character. The past relationship with Ayers is too muddy.  It is absolutely appalling to me that someone with ties to an unrepentant terrorist, who has stated he would gladly do it again, is running, and may win the presidency.

But that’s just me.  I’m certainly not trying to influence anyone.  I just want people to vote with their heads.  A lot of the military kids that I work with are voting for Obama, and thats fine.  Hell, I’m just happy that they’re voting.  But voting for Obama because “he isn’t Bush” is the wrong answer.  Whatever the outcome, its a turbulent time for this country, and whoever is at the helm better have some solid plans in mind and ready to execute.

See above.

I’ve been pretty busy this last month which has precluded me from writing anything of any substance.  I was in Maryland for 3 1/2 weeks, doing an analytical exchange with a sister office at the HQ campus, which if I say so myself, went very well.  I always enjoy going back to Maryland every year, as I get to see the old friends, and eat at some of my favorite restaurants.  So yeah, lots of eating, and beer drinking at Nottinghams etc with Mark, Monica, John, E.V., Pattytaigs and the midget, Misa, Steven, and the Fletch.  To top it all off, I ended the trip with the Virgin Mobile Music Festival, which I will talk about at length in another post.

So what am I up to now?  Well, back at work, and busier than ever.  Im also pretty much planning the annual Dootang clan vegas shennanigan-fest, which is in less than a week.  I beta’d Warhammer Online, which is pretty fun and I think I’m going to play it for a bit.  Ialso bought Soul Caliber IV for 360, which I suck at, but damn it’s a pretty game.

…and so it goes

Category: WoW

Im pretty glad that I bought a 360.

I’ve been holding out on buying a PS3 since release, mainly because I wanted to see who would win the DVD format war, and because theyre ungodly expensive.  No console should ever cost 600 dollars.  Then blu-ray won, and I still didnt want to purchase one, because there arent any games that I feel I cannot live without.  Im semi-interested in Metal Gear Solid, but not enough to justify even the 500.00 combo.  Pretty much the only two games I have been holding out for are Gran Turismo 6 and Final Fantasy XIII.

Enter E3 expo.

Squaresoft pulls a ninja move and FFXIII is coming to the 360.  Finally.  Coupled with the new Netflix partner, the 360 is really the way to go right now.  I dont even play my consoles very much, but Im pretty excited.  360 finally gets a solid RPG, and I dont have to dish out 500-600 chola to play it.  Epic win.

On another note, today ended my 19 month tenure as guild master for Clowns on Fire.  I havent really decided how I feel about it yet.  A little relieved, that I dont have to deal with a lot of the challenges that come with it, but kind of sad, it’s been my baby for the last year and a half and I’ve put a lot of time into it.  Time that sadly, I dont have to spare anymore.  Ahh well.

6.5 weeks until vegas.

I has an iPhone.

Arrived at the Pearl City Aeia ATnT Store just after 6 am, and was 31 and 32 in line.  By 1030 I had iPhones in hand.  Delicious.

Early thoughts:

  •  plastic back isnt as sweet as aluminum, but I dont mind.
  • GPS is rockin’, it pinpointed my house in about 3 seconds.
  • 3G is a bit faster than I had expected.  Pulling up large pages like Engadget takes maybe 15 seconds, although Hawaii is supposedly one of the best 3G networks in the nation.
  • iTunes Apps store is where the real excitement is to be found:  I havent figured out what toys I will download, but I will shortly.

That’s about it for now, off to go play with it some more.

If you want to.

Movies this summer have been pretty lackluster, to say the least.  I saw Wanted last weekend, and it was ok I suppose, for an over the top ridiculous action movie.  It wasnt “Shoot’em up” over the top, but it was pretty retarded.  I still enjoyed it, and probably worth the 9.50 if you’re bored.  This weekend is Hellboy-2, and I may or may not see it.  Hellboy was awful.  Batman is in two weeks, which I’m super pumped about.

Im heading to Baltimore/DC again in a week, this time Ill be there for 3 weeks.  Im pretty stoked anytime I get back to the mothership, as I get to hang with all of the old friends.  So, friends, prepare for harbor shennanigans, and Nottingham’s.  Mmmm Yuengling.  Oh, we’ll be seeing Batman too.

Aaaaand tomorrow, Im going to try my luck at picking up an Iphone 3G.  Ive wanted an iphone since last June when it initially released, but was hesitant to get one because it lacked 3G data capability, nor did it have a GPS antenna.  This iteration has addressed both of those issues, so now I just have to suck it up and jump to ATnT Wireless.

GPS turn-by-turn!

That’s GPS turn-by-turn!  While not available on release tomorrow, it will be “soon.”  The iPhone is the new standard of phone people.  All future designs should be held to this or a Blackberry standard if you even want me to consider your phone.

Ramble on~

Not Happening.

Category: Dribble

I recently watched “The Happening,” the new M. Night. Shamalamadingdong movie starring Marky Mark.  God, what the hell happened to M. Night?  The sixth sense was rocking, Unbreakable was pretty good, I enjoyed it, but since then has been a steady decline into assville.  While I won’t totally spoil it for people who want to see it…wait.  There’s nothing to spoil.  PLANTS.  WINDY FUCKING PLANTS.

There.  I just saved you 9.50.  You owe me a beer.

I know all the words to ‘”Del Colores”
And I’m proud to be an American.

So last week I was out in Baltimore and DC for work and good times were had.  Went to see She Wants Revenge over at the 9:30 club, one of my current favorite bands for sure.  The show of course, rocked the house.  The highlight though was the annual “clown-con.” Don’t ask, it’s easier that way.  Just look at the pics. :)
